Our Programmes

What We Do

The United Nigerians Brandon Association (UNBA) is committed to helping Nigerian immigrants fully integrate and thrive in Canadian society. We achieve this by offering essential supplementary support, providing robust educational programs, and empowering our members through advocacy and community development efforts right here in Brandon, Manitoba.

Settlement & Newcomer Support

Humanitarian & Crisis Support

Aligned with our constitutional objective to support members in need, we actively identify with Nigerians in crisis and provide community-based relief to families facing significant challenges, loss, or emergency (such as fire or bereavement). We mobilize community resources and networks to offer immediate, compassionate aid, ensuring no member faces hardship alone.

Educational & Professional Development

We create vital opportunities for continuous professional learning and economic growth by hosting specialized workshops, mentorship programs, and skill-building sessions. Our resources are designed to empower youth, students, and immigrant professionals with the necessary tools for achieving success in the competitive Canadian job market. Topics include Immigration Law updates, job search strategies, and Manitoba tenant rights and laws.

Civic Engagement & Advocacy

We actively encourage and promote community leadership and responsible participation in Brandon, MB. We ensure the collective voices of our members are heard and well-represented in local governance through targeted advocacy efforts, such as engaging directly with the Brandon School Division’s Board of Trustees. We champion essential volunteerism to foster strong, contributing citizens.

Community & Strategic Partnerships

We build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with local government agencies, major Brandon businesses, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. These strategic community partnerships create concrete opportunities, secure resources, and promote mutual support that benefits both our members and the wider Manitoba community, driving inclusive community development.

Cultural Celebrations & Recognition

We preserve and proudly share the rich Nigerian culture and heritage, enriching the local cultural scene through vibrant community festivals and artistic showcases. We host the annual Nigerian Flag Raising Ceremony at the Brandon City Hall, organize cultural events like the flagship Naija Summer Fest, and actively celebrate the accomplishments of Nigerians in Brandon. These efforts are vital in promoting cultural diversity and pride
